Nearly 1,000 TV stations across the country moved to new frequencies between 2018 and 2020 as a result of the broadcast spectrum incentive auction. This impacted the more than 72 million Americans nationwide who watch television for free with an antenna. These viewers needed to rescan their TV set when a station moved in order to continue receiving that local channel.
